Author: Colleen Hoover
Verity is like if Colleen Hoover took a romantic novel, shoved it into a dark alley with a thriller, and said, “Let’s see what happens.” Spoiler alert: what happens is completely wild, a bit messed up, and absolutely impossible to stop reading, like it legit took me two days to read this book. I have never out of all of Hoover’s books have been so hooked. Seriously, I lost sleep over this book, and you know I was so into it when my little night light was dead. I was half reading, half screaming, “Is this real life?”
Lowen, a struggling writer, gets hired to finish Verity Crawford’s bestselling book series after Verity’s car accident. Seems simple, right? WRONG. She ends up finding Verity’s secret autobiography, which is less “the story of my life” and more “how I’d win a horror movie villain award.” It’s like a mix of a soap opera and a murder mystery, but with more creepy vibes and definitely no room for a happily-ever-after. (certain scenes literally gave me the chills)
The chemistry between Lowen and Verity’s husband, Jeremy, is so freaking amazing and tense and just chef’s kiss, think slow-burn romance with a side of “please don’t open that secret drawer, you’re going regret it.” And then plot twist it gets WAY crazier than you expect. You’ll have your jaw on the floor, your heart racing, and maybe a few more trust issues than you had before.
Bottom line: Verity is a thriller, a romance, and a psychological mess of “WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?” Colleen Hoover, what did you just do to me? 10/10 would get emotionally scarred by this again. I wish I can experience this read all over again.
rate : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – a rollercoaster of twists, turns, and “holy shit what did I just read?” moments
