Does It Hurt? is a dark romance that explores complex themes of trauma, revenge, and forbidden attraction. Sawyer, the protagonist, is a woman haunted by her past, while Enzo, the mysterious man she meets, carries his own dark secrets. As their paths intertwine, the book dives deep into a world where emotional scars and intense chemistry collide.
Is it my cup of tea? not really. I think the trauma being brought up was a little too much for me, and it does have a caution for readers before reading. I do think it’s a dark romance filled with the themes of the past.
While it’s intriguing it doesn’t always deliver on the emotional payoff. The relationship between Sawyer and Enzo is built on a foundation of tension and toxic dynamics, which can feel more unsettling than romantic at times. The characters are complex, but their choices may leave you questioning their motivations rather than rooting for them. Like I said it’s not my cup of tea it wasn’t the romance I was expecting.
The writing is undeniably captivating, drawing you in with its intensity, but the story’s dark and gritty nature might not be for everyone. It’s a book that pushes boundaries, but in some places, it crosses them, leaving readers with a mix of fascination and discomfort.
